Barb Stanton for Apple Valley Town Council

Working for the common good of ALL the people

“We’re in This Together”

A GOLF COURSE TO NOWHERE – Spending more than $110,000 per month, of taxpayer money, is shameful. OUR TAX DOLLARS being spent to support a restaurant and a bar – competing with private sector business is wrong.

POLICE and FIRE PROTECTION – must increase… Our population has grown – public safety has not. While we spend millions on a country club we can certainly afford to protect our citizens.

JOBS – Help businesses create jobs by getting government out of the way. Work to create innovative job training programs that will provide quality manufacturing and

industrial jobs in our town.

WATER – Bills are out of control in the Apple Valley Ranchos Water district. What has the current council done to keep water bills in check? I will demand answers from the Council, Apple Valley Ranchos Water Company, from the Public Utilities Commission and Mojave Water Agency. When will you be forced to stop watering your lawn or empty the pool? It’s happening now to your neighbors. What kind of Council would allow seniors and families to suffer these water rate increases?

NO NEW TAX PLEDGE – I have signed the pledge.

I will be transparent, accountable and ethical as your Councilmember.

No special deals - Fewer closed door meetings

Stop out of control water costs!

Stop paying more than $110,000 a month for a country club!

The BS Stops Here!

Local 4742

Established in 1951, Apple Valley Fire District protects 206 square miles - 76 of which are incorporated by the town of Apple Valley, located 95 miles northeast of Los Angeles.

Five staffed stations and two unstaffed stations support Apple Valley's population of 90,000 as well as its surrounding communities. Apple Valley FD provides fire and EMS services, as well as HazMat and an urban search and rescue team. In addition, Apple Valley provides mutual aid and has recently obtained an OES engine to further assistance across the state.

Like so many locals, Apple Valley is grappling with California's current economic crisis and their local's current goal is to work closely with management to regain constant staffing.

Currently, Apple Valley Fire has rotating brownouts of one to two fire stations to cut overtime costs.

This puts an added burden on the remaining fire stations, increases response times and increases mutual aid assistance from neighboring cities.

BARB STANTON

Apple Valley Town Council

We’re in This Together!

This is my finest hour. I have been given the opportunity to represent Apple Valley on the town council with an independent voice. I am a 21 year resident that promises Transparent, Ethical and Accountable government.

Through my career as a broadcaster and journalist I arose to form the Save Our Country Meeting, (SOC) and the first High Desert Tea Party.

Essential campaign Issues are:

• A senior and family safe community that maintains police and fire protection

• Job creation and growth

• Maintain the quality of life in our housing sector

• Government should not be in private business

I promise to listen to our CITIZENS FIRST and be a Council Member that will respond.

I support water conservation and limited landscaping on town projects.

Group Home oversight, which requires police and neighborhood notification.

As a mother and a grandmother I am concerned about our next generation’s future. We must expand our youth programs.

Apple Valley deserves the Best Way of Life.

A vote for Barbara ‘Barb’ Stanton represents a vote for LIMITING TAXES in Apple Valley and moving forward in a responsible manner.

I ask our absentee voters to mark their ballots and mail immediately.

Thank you so much!

Barb Stanton Nominated a Victor Valley Most Inspiring Women

Barb Stanton Nominated a Victor Valley Most Inspiring Women

Daily Press Newspaper
March 05, 2009

Why she was nominated:
She works with veterans and our military families. She had and continues to have the courage to speak the truth. - Anonymous.

In her own words:

Why do you think you were nominated to the Daily Press Most Inspiring Women 2009?
It is humbling to be nominated and considered inspiring to others. After being fired from an extremely popular radio show I held my head up and continued to stand by my message. After losing my job at the age of 58 I reinvented myself. I turned to a new industry and began a streaming radio show over the Internet. I am in syndication with another radio station and have begun ' What's On Your Mind' a friday evening two hour television show. I believe I have inspired others in understanding that it is ok to have differing opinions - what is important is to be able to discuss these opinions and learn from each other.

What activities/organizations are you involved in and why?

Rolling Thunder - Chapter 1, California. Board Member. It is a national organization that looks after POW/MIA recovery for the nation.
SOC Club - A group I founded one year ago. Save Our Country - Save Our California - Save Our Community or Same Old Crap and we are not going to take it any more! This group meets monthly to discuss local issues and those of the state. Guest speakers bring insight and motivate citizens to be more active in government.Active with AMVETS activities and perform various hosting duties as requested such as Veterans day ceremonies at the Southern California Veterans Home in Barstow.

Second Harvest Food Bank - Beginning a program called 'Food for Thought' in April. This 13-week program will help others to understand the needs of the needy. I am becoming involved with this worthwhile organization and understanding how they provide food for so many. Feeding America will visit on one segment. Education and need along with learning will help us all.

California Republican Assembly. We are working towards issues facing the party and this country.

How do you think you make a difference?
When given the opportunity to host a radio show, as I do today, I decided I could make a difference by allowing a variety of topics to be open for discussion, such as political and governmental actions along with agencies in need as well as agencies that assist with our children the poor our disabled and the elderly. The United States is at war and supporting our military, the men and women and their families that are making the sacrifices that keep the rest of America safe is very important to me. Allowing listeners, even if just for a moment to stop and think about the needs of others.

If you could share something with the public, what would that be?

Believe in yourself. Live with honor - hold your head high while remaining humble and receptive to others needs.

“We’re in This Together”

Apple Valley should not be entering into private sector business.

We have recently begun shutting down our fire stations; Yucca Loma at Apple Valley Rd. station is now being used for STORAGE!

Our population has swelled and yet we have fewer police and firemen to protect us.

Prisons, a Juvenile Detention Center, the San Bernardino County Jail, and group homes are now part of the landscape in Apple Valley and the high desert, with a Re-Entry Center planned for Apple Valley and more to come.

I have concerns regarding the quality of life for our citizens…will we live safely and without fear?

I fully support public safety, and public safety first before Country Clubs!

Encouraging and assisting businesses, including small businesses, to prosper in Apple Valley is extremely important. We need good paying jobs for our citizens.

We are spending more than $60,000 a month on the Apple Valley Country Club WHILE WE ARE REDUCING OUR FIRE AND POLICE PROTECTION! This is backward thinking and must be corrected.

A vote for Barb Stanton is a vote for common sense. I have the courage and the character to represent you. I will be a strong advocate for each citizen and each business, and view each and every issue with clarity and fairness.
